    Should Australia be a republic?

Personally I couldn't care less as I don't think it will make much difference to me or how I live my day-today life, I'll still get up and go to work, or do whatever I feel like. I feel this is just some hoopla that has been sprouted because Kevin Rudd appointed a female Governer General for the first time in Australia's history and this 2020 summit we had on the weekend.
Beware the lollipop of mediocrity. Lick once and you suck forever...

Yep, more importantly we should get rid of all the state Governments though.

Yes and we would've been already had little John not sabotaged the last referendum by tinkering with the format of appointing the president.

The idea that it shouldn't is absurd. The only debate should be about the specific form.

The monarchy has absolutely no relevance to Australia today and it's long past the time we should disassociate ourselves from that past.

I think Australia should definately become a republic. I only wish that Britain and New Zealand would too. I see no reason why we should be bound as subjects to a bunch of upper class inbred twits who are so out of touch with the modern world it isn't funny anymore. Elizabeth Windsor (sorry, Saxe-Coberg-Gotha) is not my "queen", and she shouldn't be for you guys either.

Should have happened during the 1999-00 period IIRC.

I don't see how it makes a difference from day-to-day life.

Agree with Craig. TBH Australia should become their own individual...thing. Though in saying that its history as a British Colony should still be recognised as it plays a large part in its history...IIRC.

Not many elements of the functioning of government do. Doesn't mean they aren't significant at all.

Don't see the point of a queen, tbh.
