You Cross My Path - Charlatans Fans

Anyone else loving the new Charlatans Album? It's a free download:

Being hailed as the best since Tellin' Stories, certainly the best since Us and Us Only.

    That's all really...

What are the standout tracks? I might have a listen later on.

Are there any The Only One I Know or Weirdo style sub-psychedelic wig-outs on there?

I'm still waiting for a decent follow up to Can You Dig It? by the Mock Turtles and I'm Free by the Soup Dragons let alone for a decent album by the Farm.

My Name Is Despair could be described as such, though it's not necessarily a 'Stand-Out Track' not quite as 'rythmic' as the ones you mention. The album is tinged with it throughout I suppose to different degrees.

DL the whole thing and just give it a few listens. SO GOOD.

lol I sound like I'm trying to market the thing.

Didnt know one was out. Great band, one that just seemed to get better and better from 1993/94 onwards, and one of the best live bands I have seen as well.

    Will have a listen!!!

Held a groove better than any band I know. One to Another is my fav song of theirs, but they got several stormers. I really quite rate North Country Boy too as it goes; a big, dappy, pop tune.

Tim Burgess is camp as tits tho. Was quite genuinely shocked when he got married to a female personage.

    - As featured in The Independent.

you seem to have a problem with camp lead singers

Yeah great band live, I saw them at Reading in 99. They rocked.

They are coming to Bristol, in May I think, can't wait.

One To Another and North Country Boy are great tunes, as is all of Tellin' Stories.

Just Lookin', Here Comes A Soul Saver and Just When You're Thinking Things Over are a few of my favs of 'The Charlatans' Album.

Meh, felt Country Boy was a poor attempt at mid 90's Oasis following. Tried for the Britpop Indie market, and was a good song for that genre, but its not the Charlatans i knew.

Surprised 'Cant Get Out of Bed' hasnt been mentioned.

I was just thinking about that song...

Spooky, well not really but it should have been.

Up To Our Hips is possibly their best album.

Just listened to about the first 75% of this new album. Must be said, on first listening, sounds pretty weak...and normally with the Charlies I love their stuff on the first listen.
