    Investing

hey, I'll be starting university this september and also will be doing some part-time job. I don't have to worry abt tuition fees etc cuz my parents will help, so I'm really interested in investing that extra money I'll be earning. But I don't know where I'd invest, I read few articles with interest rates like 10%, but banks here only give you like 3 or 4% at most, which when u consider inflation also is nothing. There's stock market, mutual funds, bonds, I dont know anything about them but generally what is the best place to invest if ur starting off. Where can u get those 10% return rates but still have ur investment risk free ?

I have a guaranteed return of 10 percent this Friday. Auckland Reactor WILL win the New Zealand Pacing Derby at Addington. The bookies are opening him at $1.10...

Before you buy a single stock..........do read
    1) Ben Graham - The Intelligent Investor
    2) Philip Fisher - Common Stocks and Uncommon Profit.

These investment sages talk about a lot of stuff that you need to keep yourself grounded in today world of hype.

Indeed. Personally, I'd take the safe option, put your money into a savings account, or a term deposit. Somewhere where you can't access it easily (so you aren't tempted to withdraw it for any apparent reason, other than an emergency), and are guaranteed a return no matter what the market is doing. It's certainly a lot better than investing in the stock market when you have little, or no knowledge, and things can go pear shaped in an instant.

Forget the e-books..............buy the paperback.............underline, write notes and highlight all over it.............its the only way you can chew and digest the contents.
