Is Maori a completely different language structurally to English or is it like a form of pidgin (Thanks Neil) English? I've never heard of it that's all....bit naive.

    1) It's pidgin not pigeon
    2) It's the native language of NZ. The maoris are the indigenous race - hence the Haka of the rugby team.

Guess that means they are completely different. I knew that the maoris were the indigenous race but wondered whether it would be like us learning French which is vastly different from English.

if you want to hear the stereotypical maori speak (in english) then download "stole my car" a parody of the OMC song "how bizarre".

with such phrases as "thiefed off with it"...
    genius.

Tuffey is a maori if I'm correct.

I am fluent in English, passable in French and German and basic in Norwegan.
