For anyone who has been to Croatia...

What language do they speak? Is it some form of Serbian or is there a Croation dialect or something?

What method of payment did you use and was it any good?

Croatian is a language on it's own. Probably not a good idea to speak it in Serbia though...

I used Croation money I think it's called 'Kuna'. And Croatia is awesome, the coastline has some great spots for swimming (anywhere along the coast really), and I recommend you head inland towards the Bosnian border from Split and see the Plitvice Lakes. They're stunning.

A mate and I did 7 hours of hiking through this place complete with boat trip across the lake. Pity it was raining for most of the day

How much is it to get back out?

Anyway, I'm going to Australia for my summer vacation.

You might not believe this, but I'm a kiwi and have never been to Australia before.

I have no big plans where to go yet, apart from Sydney first and then up to Brisbane.

I know I want to drive around Mount Panorama.

Well if your going Sydney to Brisbane your going Nowhere near Mt Panorama.

Bathurst is about 2-2.5 hours drive west of Sydney. Not much else to do out there but, trust me i lived in Orange (40 k's from Bathurst) for 20 years. Some good cool climate wines about, but not much else.

Well it's going to be a day trip out west. After driving the circuit, we'll just cruise around and see if there's something else of interest.

I'm there for 11 days, so I figure 4-5 days around Sydney, 4-5 around Bristane and travelling between them for the rest.

How long do you think it takes to travel from Sydney to Brisbane by car at a reasonable pace?

Webjet - This is the best place to look

It compares all the airlines on the days you want to fly and where you want to fly to. Jetstar or Virgin are the cheapest (they are no frills, but you will survive for a 90 minute flight from Sydney to Brisbane). I have flown Qantas between Sydney and Brisbane, but I didn't have to pay for the flight (it was already paid for me) but they are the more expensive option. Otherwise domestically I have flown Virgin Blue and they are fine and so is Jetstar. I flew with them from the Gold Coast to Osaka (direct) and it was fine, so there shouldn't be any problems flying between Sydney and Brisbane.

Or come to the Gold Coast instead of Brisbane.

Go to Byron Bay mate, it's worth a stop. Only 1hr 45 mins from Brissy. Go north to Noosa and the Eumundi markets too.

Byron has more atmosphere I think. Kingscliff is full of 15 year olds or 85 year olds...and the development south of the town has meant it now has a lot of yuppies driving at 10km an hour looking around the main st because they're too ****ing lazy to get out of their BMW's to walk the 400m that is the street itself.

It's not a bad spot though, Byron's just more exciting in my opinion.
