Tents most nights, and a lodge. The view from the tent had to be seen to be believed, haha.

Was my home town and spent the best part of 20 years there. Not been back for more than a week at a time since 2008.

Freezing as **** in winter and hot and dry in summer. Good wineries abound though.

Orange is awesome. Great town. Would thoroughly recommend it. Lots of vineyards, some decent cafes and restaurants and there's something of a developing arts community as well. It and Mudgee are like miniature Hunter Valley's without the wankers and cashed up bogans. Enjoy.

Try the tyre bike tours in these cities, good fun and educational.

So not quite the UK or Hong Kong but I'm off to Tasmania in August for a week before 3 nights in Melbourne before heading back to Wellington. Open to ideas of things to do (other than "leave").

drunk and trying to decide where next. originally i thought turkey before erdogan ruins the place but greece and america are also on the agenda. greece for the history obv and america for the gorgeous scenery and the dinosaurs in the museums.

greece and turkey could be on the same trip tbh with a jaunt down to jordan and egypt.

Has anyone been to Exmouth in Western Australia? Water and surrounding wildlife looks stunning.

No, but I know a lot of people who have and they all say it's awesome, especially snorkeling with whale sharks. It's very beautiful, but because it's so remote it costs a ****ing bomb to get to, as I understand it.

If you do go, travel a bit further south to Geraldton as well and check out the Abrolhos Islands - site of one of the more remarkable stories of survival with the Batavia way back. Or alternatively head up to Broome - beautiful as well, and likewise ****ing expensive. Goes without saying that WA is a vast place. It's on our bucket list to hire a huge motor home, take a few weeks off and drive from Broome all the way down to Margaret River. Would be fun.

Having not been abroad for 15 years in little over 12 months we have gone on 4 holidays. Seems me going back to work just pays for them and little else. Majorca, Cologne and Portugal twice so far. I am very tempted to book Croatia in the school summer holidays but I am being outvoted as kids want tickets to see Hamilton. If they going to that I will be buying a bloody season pass for Cheltenham just to annoy everyone.
