well the mid credits scene for the final episode was a pointer to what could happen next season...although i feel the show needs to introduce new villains going forward...

Seen it, wasn't as good as previous ones but still better than most of the tat on tv these days.

Winona still got it by the way. badda badda bing.

Even though I am in my 40's I love the Dustin and Steve combo, just works so well and is so believable.

I couldn't get into Stranger Things at all. Pulled the plug halfway through the first episode when a bunch of kids was sitting in a garden shed prattling on about "the upside-down". I don't get the hype, but clearly they're aiming for a much younger target audience.

Chernobyl is good but am gonna stop watching cause I don't like the focus being on individuals. Would have preferred it set as a flashback from the pov of the scientist giving a talk just before his death, taking questions and all.

I thought it was appealing to the nostalgia of the 80s within people so I don't age is the issue here.

I didn't like it because I haven't exactly watched much from the 80s, and thought it was pretty cringe. Don't like kid actors much in general.

Yeah the final scene was kinda hinting towards it.

Funnily enough I suspect that this seemed like a good time to sign off, given the (SPOILERS) apparent death of Hopper and the Byers family leaving Hawkins. Chemistry wise the show still works and IIBH I'm not sure it's plot was ever the strength, but I feel like the show is getting a bit too predictable.

Black Monday starts well but quickly loses its way and becomes annoyingly repetitive. The final episode was a mess - sad to see Bruce Dern involved in this nonsense. The best part of the series was Ken Marino as the Lehmann Brothers. He was also very good in The Other Two.

This is one of the weirdest takes I've ever seen.

It's a huge draw for Netflix as it loses shows like Friends and The Office to other ********* services. It'll be drawn out as long as it gets millions of viewers.

Besides, things have to change in shows otherwise it becomes too samey. Byers leaving Hawkins opens up other storylines, and it might be Hopper somehow in that Russian prison, meaning you can travel through the upside down to other portals.

Heh. This is only my take for really important subject matter. And I am one of those who really don't care about "show, don't tell".

    Great choice.

You should probably check out the leftovers and The Returned (french version) afterwards.

Somewhat similar vibe and both excellent.

Does anyone watch Countryfile? Last week I was visiting Yorkshire Wildlife Park and there was a camera crew there filming. I found out after that it was someone named Helen Skelton filming a piece about polar bears for a programme named Countryfile. I'd never heard of the presenter or the programme. But depending on what they use of the crowds in the background I might be on it.

I'm not really a Doctor Who fan, but an impression I get of the show is that it's over-reliant on old villains. Like it feels like every series, the Daleks and/or Cybermen return. Is that a fair impression?

That's probably a bit unfair tbh, if you're thinking that that's because they can't come up with good new villains. It's more something they do to remind everyone it's all still the same show despite radically changing everything every few years.

Meanwhile, this show is so frustrating but that's not gonna stop me watching this upcoming season in full like three times.
