Jack Gleeson and Lena Headey should have gotten it.

Lena has so completely elevated that character from the books - virtually the only character I can say that about.

Anyone catch Ray Donovan at all?

Impressive pilot, I thought. Maybe slightly too heavy on the Irish American tropes (boxing - check, drink - check, pederast priest - check), but the idea of a Hollywood "fixer" who operates in the hinterland between showbiz and organised crime seems to have so much potential it's amazing no-one's done it before.

Decent cast too with Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight, Elliott Gould and the little Jewish guy out of House.

    - As featured in The Independent.

"The committee discussed the issue of illegal bowling actions, and believed that there are a number of bowlers currently employing suspect actions in international cricket, and that the ICC's reporting and testing procedures are not adequately scrutinising these bowlers."
    - Even the ICC's own official press release thinks things must change

I watched the first episode of Ray Donovan last night. For the pilot, it seems pretty damn good. Anyone else been watching it?

Really don't want to draw the ire of those who say I moan about everything (i.e. nearly everyone), but this season of Dexter...

Yeah, I really should stop watching. Not sure why I do this to myself.

Watching the doc at the moment on BBC2, if you want history about it.

The White Queen is Okay, but a bit underwhelming I thought. It's no The Tudors.
I'm watching and enjoying both, fwiw.

Perhaps the most interesting bit about the doc was right at the end of the 2nd episode when the presenter outlines her case for Margaret Beaufort being the likeliest culprit for finishing off the two princes in the tower.

The other thing I've started watching today is the 'Imagine' interview with Woody Allen. Not that I've watched many of his films over the last 30 years, but I'm enjoying the part about his rise in the 1960's & his early films in the 1970's.

As everyone here knows, I've been complaining about it's decline in quality for a while, but the writing in this latest season really is the pits.

I could kind of get past this if the story seemed to be actually moving towards the conclusion of the "bigger picture" storyline, but it just seems to be the same as all the other seasons, and not moving towards the show's conclusion at all. Such a shame.

Haha I posted about that on Jono's wall yesterday. So great.

Basically, the newsroom that you can see had got a tip about a US war crime, and they were trying to get confirmation of it from other sources before running the story. They had a program running, searching twitter around the time it supposedly happened for keywords etc, and they got back a tweet about Misbah.

Sanga isn't the best off spinner in the history of cricket? News to me.

Watched The Dealership on Channel 4 this eve. A timely reminder that that sales is a terrible profession and that people are awful. Especially people from Essex.

Reasons why I heart The Wire #57:

Just started reshowing it from Series 1 on Sky Atlantic and am obviously watching it all again. Ep 2 was on last night and I realised that the two ageing drunks who're detailed to Daniels are called Polk and Mahone.

As fans of punk/Irish folk fusion all know "pogue mahone" is the Anglicised Gaelic for "kiss my arse". David Simon is obviously amongst their number (The Body of The American being used as the cops' farewell lament at their booze fuelled wakes) so I can't believe this was accidental.
