Great first two eps of Boardwalk Empire. The character of Gyp Rosetti (played by Bobby Cannavale) looks like he's going to be a great addition and an awesome villain.

This show intrigues me. I've never watched it but I have a few friends who love it, some who tell me I'd love it too and others who tell me I probably wouldn't like it even though they do. I've had pretty good success watching Jono-recommended shows though, as ashamed as I am to admit that.

Yeah agreed, it's been a great start. By the way, did you feel the start of the second episode was a little "off"? I felt like I had missed an episode watching the first 15 minutes before getting back to normal.

So cruelly abrupt. Great ep though, can't go wrong with the angels.

Lol'd at no-one noticing the Statue of Liberty casually growing teeth and going for a walk though.

Yeah that was just silly. Pretty much the only bit of the ep I didn't like, though.

I liked the statue making an appearance, I was actually surprised it turned up. Of course no one noticed, it only moves when no-one's looking .

Best series finale by far (except maybe The Big Bang). Understated and appropriate ending for Amy and Rory, plus there's nothing like half a dozen Rory deaths to dramatically improve an episode.

I completely agree. It was one hell of an episode, but FMD the ending was sad.

Is that the series? I thought there was more to come still.
And it isn't Doctor Who if Rory doesn't die on a regular basis.

Anyway, as I said, I prefer Breaking Bad but thought Homeland was a worthy winner.
Massive Homeland fan too. Hope the second series matches the first tho, do wonder if some of the dymanic might be lost now we actually know Body has been turned. Didn't mar the end of the first run, tbf, but it was building towards the would-be suicide bombing, so the narrative drive was there.

Just on Lewis: how does his accent stand up to Stateside ears? I'm obviously no expert, but his seems to be one of the better "Brit affecting American" efforts I've heard.

"as much a news event as an actual footballer, a worthy stop-start centre forward, but an all-time hyper-galactico when it comes to doing funny things with cars and hats, a player whose signing proves once again that the Premier League is still undoubtedly the best in the world when it comes to doing things with cars and hats."

The original plan was for Brody to go through with the suicide bombing and die at the end of the season. The producers changed their mind very early on though and hence he lives. I guess we'll see if that was a good decision or not.

As for Lewis' American accent, I think he does an excellent job. I first got to see him in the outstanding Band of Brothers series and I had no idea he wasn't American.

Homeland is brilliant and importantly not a geeky wankfest like most shows discussed on this thread, not slagging off GOT or Doctor Who obviously, I'd of loved them both when I was 14
