    Battle of the Battles

    Misleading title, yeah.

For the benefit of Dickinson, that's a misnomer.

I mean the spear-driving, cannon-shot, barn-burning slobberknockers that usually happen somewhere around the globe at any given time.

    Hoping for 64. Seconding required.

    Nominate:
    Battle of Stirling Bridge, 1297
    Battle of the Bulge, 1944
Second Battle of El Alamein, 1942
    Battle of Gettysburg, 1865
    Passchendale, 1916
    Battle of the Somme, 1916
    Battle of Trafalgar, 1805
    Battle of Waterloo, 1815
    Battle of Austerlitz, 1814
    Battle of Isandlhwana, 1879
    Siege of Tobruk, 1942
    Battle of Bannockburn, 1314
    Battle of Gergovia, 52 BC
    Battle of Edgehill, 1648
    Battle of Marathon, 490 BC
Battle of Little Bighorn (Custer's Last Stand), 1876
    Battle of Agincourt, 1415
    Battle of Crecy, 1346
    Siege of Troy, 1184 BC
    Battle of Hastings, 1066
    Battle of Stalingrad, 1942
Battle of Gravelines (Spanish Armada), 1588
    Operation D-Day, 1944
    Battle of Kursk, 1943
    Crossing of the Delaware, 1776
    Operation Iraqi Freedom, 2003 ()
    Battle of Culloden, 1746
    Battle of Britain, 1940
    Battle of Midway, 1942
    Siege of Vienna, 1683
