    What camera?

Always willing to accept advice here - forgive me if my jargon's not up to the mark.

I'm thinking of buying a new digital camera - I've quite got into this photography lark in the last couple of years, currently clicking away with a Fuji Finepix 5600 but I want something a little more serious now.

Looking for 10 or 12 megapixel SLR, but more important that the camera offers me the versatility to take close-ups, wide angle shots and 'rapid fire' (say 5-10 shots per second).

Obviously I need something where I change lenses (hence the wide angle and tele-photo etc).

Price limit around 1,000 Sterling - including a couple of decent lenses.

Perhaps Langeveldt might have an opinion. I've had a quick look at the Canon D400 and that seems to have received some decent reviews, but...

    could I do better?

No idea about cameras, glad you're back though.

I still work in Ireland - heading for the airport in about 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Looking at buying a Canon 40D myself at the moment. With that and being forced into going to England at Christmas, its an expensive few months at the moment.

I second this, I'd like to get a digital SLR too...currently using a Canon G7.

That camera I bought ended up working out great. Absolutely loving it. Take it just about everywhere I go.

Sorry about taking so long to reply to this... I'm using a Canon EOS 350D, which is essentially the older version of the 400D.. You can pick that up, and a very decent wide angle lens for under 1000 pounds..

The reason I always plug canon is because I've never taken a photo (in a professional capacity) with anything else, and they have done me such good service, and there lenses, for the quality that they are, are very good value for money.. Hope I've helped, let me know if you've got any more questions
