    Imran Khan 'under house arrest'

    Imran Khan 'under house arrest'

Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan told AFP early today he has been placed under house arrest following the imposition of a state of emergency by President Pervez Musharraf.

"Police entered my house in Lahore and told me that I am placed under house arrest - they did not show me any detention order at all," Khan said.

Khan earlier accused Musharraf of committing treason and called for him to face the death penalty.

He was also put on house arrest when Bush visited Pakistan if I'm not mistaken.

Anyone that accuses a virtual dictator of treason and calls for the death penalty cant be too surprised when there are repurcussions!

Imran has done some great things in his life but there are times when his mouth speaks without reference to the brain

What's wrong with showing disgust with such a thing in a country where freedom of speech is supposed to exist? Besides, its not like he put him in jail. Its house arrest.

Firstly, freedom of speech obviously doesnt exist

Secondly, house arrest with no charge, documentation, etc is hardly fair and a sorry indication of the regime

What a nice thing to do?

    • Make ex Prime Ministers 'forced' guests - in perpetuity- of 'friendly' states .
    • Make other ex Prime Ministers leave the country under threats of putting them in jail for corruption (instead of actually trying them for corruption and then putting them in jail).
    • Make possible threats to authority like Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and other judges who refuse to toe the line "stay at home" (even more polite term than house arrest) the way Mynamar has made Aung San Suu Kyi "stay at home"(not in jail mind you) for so many years now.
    • Make even smaller leaders like the not-so-popular Imran Khan also "stay at home" (not in jail mind you) to make sure the people remain without any possible leadership.

What a nice thing to do?

All three of you are agreeing with each other, but arguing anyway.

You all agree that what's going on in Pakistan is bad, yet are still somehow managing to debate over something. Wow.
