(My favourite Nusrat stuff is 'Yeh Jo Halka Halka Suoor', 'Mast Nazroon Se' and 'Afreen Afreen' [ten minutes version])
Divine is the word for those. If you like those also try 'Akhiyan Udeek Diyan', 'Ali Moula', 'Ali Da Malang', 'Ali No Yaad Karo (Slow Qawwali but highly spiritual)' And SasoN ki Mala (listen to the violin in the beginning).

Oh and dont try the remix versions, they are

Yeah that whole album is strong. Tere Bina is also a great song from the album.

Sanz,

All these are on my playlist, as I type. And yeah, I definitely don't care much for the remix versions either.

Have you listened to his duets with Eddie Vadder and Peter Gabriel?

Jeff Buckley's rendition of 'Yeh Jo Halka Halka Saroor' is also very good, incidently.

(and yeah, THAT 'Sharabi'. It's nice to see people's jaw drop after seeing the videos of some of his live performances; the dude lived what he sang)

I became a fan of Nusrat for the first time at the age of seven, after listening to his contributions to the soundtrack of the iconical PTV drama series, 'Dhuaan' (Smoke).

Was about to post this myself. Though I already used to enjoy his songs before, his contributions to 'Dhuaan' were excellent and at times brought tears to my eyes. Absolutely love 'Kisay da Yaar na bichharay'.

Forgot that I was basically talking to a Pakistani. I am going to try NFAK's duet with EV and Peter Gabriel. My brain has started salivating at the very thought of listening this sort of music.

Is the Dhuan Soundtrack available somewhere ?

Seriously doubt it. It was basically the one song they used that I mentioned in my earlier post along with some amazing vocalizing in the background from the great man at certain points in the drama.

Also, I have heard the soundtrack of the hollywood movie with NFAK's contributions in it. Tbh, I wasn't overly impressed by it, but it was an interesting listen.

np,

Natural Born Killers, you mean?

Sanz,

Dhuaan drama series itself IS available on DVD. I haven't actually seriously searched for the soundtrack but like np said, I seriously doubt it'll be available. You never know though.

I can't for the life of me think of what movie's soundtrack I listened to. My sister has the CD so I could probably find out.

Thanks for posting that Pratyush, though I make a point of not looking at them whilst listening.
