I quite like Daft Punk and have no problem with the genre itself, but mainland Europe is currently in the grip of the most annoying musical phenomenon in history. It's called "Tecktonik" and basically consists of various artists perpetrating music that would make a guy banging his fist on a table sound like the London Symphony Orchestra.

It's usually just your average thump-thump-thump-thump dance music beat, except without anything remotely original over the top, besides a French person garbling bad English in a decidedly emo-influenced tone. The most ridiculous thing about it is the dancing that goes with it - just type "tecktonik' into YouTube and you'll see what I mean. It makes French kids look like monkeys trying to direct air traffic while someone shoots at their feet. Thankfully some of my pupils sympathise when I tell them I don't like it - however, the vast majority of them can't understand how it can not exist in England. Obviously they don't understand what it's like to live in a country that actually contains people who can play musical instruments, given that they import the vast majority of their music from the English-speaking world anyway.

Wow, that should have gone in the rant thread.
Still better than the Northern pop-indie bands over here.

The Presets were awesome IMO. I only caught the end of Cut Copy, and from what I heard they were kickass as usual. I'd seen both acts before though.

I missed Muscles. I've seen him before though, he's interesting to say the least lol.

The DJs were pretty good but I can't recall too many of their names.

yeah i was going to say the same thing tbh, I enjoy the subtlety of french music, i far prefer from most of the crap bands that turn up here every week and sound exactly the same as the last one, Air and Sebastian Tellier imo are great, daft punk are ok in places as well for that matter on the Subject of this thread.

    I detest Techno.

I like Daft Punk. And Fatboy Slim actually. Not sure what that says about me, but I'm sure it makes me look good.
