Awful European Weather
i find it amazing in this day and age that a game of professional football can be called off because of the weather.
The statement from both coaches was that the right decision to postpone the match was right. But they need to think of the fans. How much money would some of the Newcastle fans have paid to travel to Barcelona to watch the game? And now they have to pay for another day's expenses or go home without seeing a game. ![]() [Edited on 14/12/02 by Neil Pickup] |

It's called typical unpredictable European weather.
Happens close on every week in the UK winter. Frozen pitch, snow, rain, flooded pitch, crosswinds, you name it. My scenario last Sunday refereeing in the local junior league:... Incredibly cold, about 2C/34F. Cloud cover just enough to block out any warming sun's rays Not enough Cloud cover to retain much warmth from the surface. Then the wind starts, at about 25mph/40kph. Off the North Sea. And that makes it even colder. Windchill -7C/19F apparently. And it's not even Winter yet. How long ago does last April's Cup Final at Blundell Park seem...
