I've always been told (when I bowled quick...) that it's much better to have a open chested action (Andy Caddick, Flintoff) to side on as it prevents injury.
Andy Caddick certainly doesn't have an open-chested action, he's classically side-on.
Truth is, it's thought to prevent injury. We have no real hard evidence, yet, that it actually does.
Richard, Darren Gough is a "side on" bowler. Andy Caddick most certainly isn't. That youtube footage shows that his chest is pointing down towards the batsmen which makes it open chested.
