Essentially people can't tell when he's kidding or not, which usually is a sign of someone being too uptight most of the time and when they try and be funny then it's usually found wanting.

Agreed. It's worse than dire Rich. I know you have urges to post at every opportunity but if you feel that you need to explain that you are trying to be funny in a post then...it's just not funny and is a waste of yours and our time.

I think Richard posts something he means half-jokingly or as a half-truth and uses the "jest" as a bail out clause if necessary...if that makes sense

Wicket keeping in jeans is very annoying.

And RE: Richard, there's a thread in Site Discussion if you want to continue talking about that topic.

TBH, my main job was to pick the ball out of the bush after it had been bowled wide

No, I wanted to but the others reckoned we should have a human WK. But so poor was the standard that there was never a catch to take behind the stumps.

Great game though. I remember being stone dead LBW when I batted, as the ball hit me on the foot, dead-centre in front of the stumps. However, it bounced up and my sis's bf caught it. They all appealed for the catch, not the lbw, so somebody ruled that I was not out - if they appealing for the catch then they aren't appealing for the lbw.
