Your belief in the possibility of god

I found a thread about this on another forum. Basicaly a book called the god delusion by Richard Hawkins divded religious belief into these 7 levels;

1. Strong theist. 100 per cent probability of God. In the words of C. G. Jung, "I do not believe, I know."

2. Very high probability but short of 100 percent. De facto theist. "I cannot know for certain, but I strongly believe in God and live my life on the assumption that he is there."

3. Higher than 50 per cent but not very high. Technically agnostic but leaning towards theism. "I am very uncertain, but I am inclined to believe in God."

4. Exactly 50 per cent. Completely impartial agnostic. "God's existence and non-existence are exactly equiprobable."

5. Lower than 50 per cent but not very low. Technically agnostic but leaning towards atheism. "I don't know whether God exists but I'm inclined to be skeptical."

6. Very low probability, but short of zero. De facto atheist. "I cannot know for certain but I think God is very improbable, and I live my life on the assumption that he is not there."

7. Strong atheist. "I know there is no God, with the same conviction as Jung "knows" there is one."

I'm a 7 because my logic is that something has to be proven to be existant and so far i haven't seen any proof of god so i know there is none.

I'd say I'm a 6/7. I believe in Karma, but no god.

Well yes and no. The thing is I am Hindu, but I haven't yet taken the time to explore different religions along with Hinduism. But for now, all I can say is I pray everyday and strongly believe there is a God.

same here! i believe in hinduism because i havent really explored ny others...but i'd like to think that there are no different types of god etc etc...but there is one god, to which i pray everyday! Initially, i always belived in karma...but then realsied that for karma to exist...there must be a god who judges what is good or bad karma!

Well seeing as this is a thread about the possibility of god not astrophysics i maybe the assumption that by "complete knowledge of the cosmos" Neil meant "Anyone who ticked 1 or 7"

So I ask all you athiests, if you haven't seen something that means it doesn't exist? I am sure a lot of you haven't actually seen Brazil but you know it exists. Now you might say there is proof out there that Brazil exists, but aren't many of the Holy scriptures proofs that God exists.

If you haven't seen something, you think it doesn't exist, but if you haven't seen it, how do you know it doesn't exist?

It's all about faith guys, all about faith. Have faith in him and pray to him, your life will become much easier gauranteed, and if it doesn't you can hunt me down and get SS to shoot me alive .
