    Evil western drug corporations

    This really pisses me off.

Profit over the lives of people.
Die Novartis ! die P&G ! die die die !
We should be supporting India's stance on this against the west or millions of people will be left without medicine and die.

Glad you find this sinister affair that can condemn millions to die without medication to be an occasion for poking fun.

He's hopped up on cheap medication tbh.
'Copperfield,' said Mr. Micawber, 'farewell! Every happiness and prosperity! If, in the progress of revolving years, I could persuade myself that my blighted destiny had been a warning to you, I should feel that I had not occupied another man's place in existence altogether in vain.

Just because you've been away a while, doesn't mean your leash has gotten any longer, sledger.

Honestly, if a company has created a drug, they should be allowed to sell it for a profit. They put the time and resources into creating their drug, and I have no problems with them keeping rights to it for a certain period of time.

ofcourse not. You wouldn't have a problem 'keeping rights' and 'making money' when this means that millions of people will be unable to afford critical medication needed for their survival.
Money > lives in other words for you.

Secondly, it is not that there arn't any drug patent laws in India - just that their drug laws make a LOT more sense than western drug laws which allow western multinational pharmacutical companies to overcharge the public.

India too has developed new drugs and their prices are a thousand times cheaper than in the west - a gap that cannot be explained by the value of money or exchange rate factors.

Infact, i know people who work for P&G and these drug. companies charge so high a price because they are not just recovering R&D costs - they are *using* these critical drugs (by marking up their prices) to fund research into stupid **** like anti-cellulite or anti-aeging products/treatments that basically are not criticial in nature and only serve the rich. an

I am sorry but in my book, human lives trump corporate interests. Ie, even if these drug corporations were perfectly legitimate in their practices (which they are most definately not) and the difference in prices were solely due to difference in market value/exchance rates (which it isn't), i'd still ask them to fak off - for people's lives are more important than legal corporate sensibilities. Period.
