    Cricketweb Concert Calendar

Use this thread to alert the Cricketweb public to any concerts, gigs, festivals or other musical happenings you are going to see. It might alert people to a gig they weren't aware of, or get someone along to a band who has similar music taste. Then give a report on the gig and maybe post some photos. Use it how you will...

    I'm Green

The color of immortality, nature and envy - you are truly a unique person. While clearly the color of nature, you also symbolize rebirth, fertility and hope in the world. On the other side of the spectrum, a natural aptitude to money with green coming to signify money and possibly even *********!

No offence man, but you go all the way to London and the first bands you see are Australian ones?

Fratellis was sold out before I even got here. And I've just been too busy to see anyone else. It just so happens that Jet and Wolfmother are playing while I'm over here, I would regret it if I didn't see them. Plus, needed another excuse to go to Amsterdam.

There's only one excuse needed for that, IMO.

    June 16 - Muse @ New Wembley.
Sreesanth said, "Next ball he was beaten and I said, 'is this the King Charles Lara? Who is this impostor, moving around nervously? I should have kept my mouth shut for the next ball - mind you, it was a length ball - Lara just pulled it over the church beyond the boundary! He is a true legend."

OMFG! Wolfmother were so awesome last night. It is the first time I have seen them in a non-outdoor venue for about 2 years and they were 1000 times better than last time I saw them. They did a cover of 'Communication Breakdown' in their encore and it was all but perfect. Fantastic gig.

Was going to start a new thread for this, but I figured I'd just use an old one. This'll do.

Anyone else go to the "V Festival" today in Sydney, or planning to go tomorrow in Queensland? Gotta say, The Pixies were fantastic. I was actually expecting a fairly mediocre show based on the fact that they're 15 years past their prime and a clip of them on a recent tour that was average, but they tore the place apart. "Caribou" and "Gouge Away" were highlights, even though they aren't songs I'm overly fond of compared to their other stuff normally. Among the ones I expected to be good, "Debaser", "Planet Of Sound" and "Where Is My Mind?" were all fantastic. Slots comfortably into the top 5 live performances I've seen, and they totally outshone Beck, who I also expected to be crap, but was easily the second best on the night. Frank Black's still got a scream that could kill a man, and I'm quite pleased that I saw them on their only ever tour of Australia.

Jarvis was okay. Good songs, good performance, but nothing much you wouldn't have got from his album. The New York Dolls were pretty bad, as you might have thought, but they improved from laughable to pretty decent as the set went on, and "Personality Crisis" did have some energy about it. Didn't bother with the other bands.

In other concert news, I went to an "exclusive album launch" of the new Silverchair fare last night, as I was given a ticket by someone who won them. I've somehow managed to see Silverchair live three or four times now and they're never any good, but it was an open (read: free) bar. I didn't think such a thing existed these days, but it does, and I took full advantage.
