    The CW Awards 2006!!

Hi there. We've all picked our best players, best matches etc, but what about the best aspects of CW? Tomm's thread on CC asked for a best poster, pasag went a couple further, adding in favourite thread and something else, well I've decided to come up with a whole load of bests and worsts to ask you all about. So there.

Best Poster : As I said in CC, SKD and Fuller are good, but Brumby is just a tad better.
Best Thread : I'm gonna shoot with the Pakistan in England thread, simply because I've never personally been on the forum when it's been so busy, every time you read a page, 10 more were added, on the night of the Hair incident, and while the issue became saturated afterwards, I always find these things more interesting when all the facts aren't known.
Best Board : Cricket Chat just shades out Off Topic, though the Ashes board would have won as it has been up most of the year, but the activity was low until Octoberish, so it wouldn't be fair!
Funniest Poster : I'm gonna go with Voltman, though where has he been these last couple of months?
Funniest Post : This one - it made me chuckle, and I know FRAZ liked it because he paraphrased it randomly shortly afterwards
Best Post : This one...fame at last for yours' truly
Best Newcomer : pasag had it nailed on until I realised just before going to press that Goughy only joined this year. Great psoter, shame he doesn't post more. Lots of good ones have joined this year though.
Best Breakthrough Artist : Didn't realise Matteh only joined in 05, he's close. Gonna go with someone who I never used to get along with on the boards, but whose posts I actually enjoy, and vote TT Boy
Most loyal fan : Well, I reckon I'm much more optimistic than anyone in the world when it comes to Tests, but don't bother with ODIs too much, Barney is like me, an eternal optimist, but is also very critical post-hopes-being-shattered, whereas Fuller defends all Australians until the cows come home, and what's more, he does it so well that it's hard to go away not agreeing with him.
Most deprived fan : Well that's definitely me.
Pessimist of the year : Gotta be SS.
The "Food? Sleep? Toilet? He/She's Always on CricketWeb!!" Award : SS just sneaks it from Matteh
Prediction for which new poster will make it big in 2007 : Dravid is already making quite the name for himself, and I reckon he'll easily smash the 10,000 barrier in 07...big things are expected of you, young man...
Lifetime Achievement Award : Langeveldt, hit 20,000, I think on Xmas Day, always great to read, and been here a long, long time.
The "We Miss You" Award : luckyeddie - funny, interesting, insightful*, a big loss to CW
Best CW Nationality : Gotta be us Poms, hasn't it?

    * Thanks Neil

    Best Poster = Slow love
Best Thread = Shane Warne thread, about his tabloid exploits, yes, yes I am that juvenile.
    Best Board =Cricket chat

Have drunk too much Stella in my life to remember individual post, except Hintons that is.
    Best Newcomer = Turbinator
    Most loyal fan = Fraz

Pessimist of the year I'm generally as pessimistic as they come, but this year I got stupidly optimistic about the Ashes. That was very stupid, and I can assure you I will be the most pessimistic next year. I would of said SKD. but TBF he's just been realistic in actuality. Nah its got to be = Silentstriker, I guess.
The "Food? Sleep? Toilet? He/She's Always on CricketWeb!!" Award = Silentstriker, he has really upped his game recently, and is omnipresent....
Prediction for which new poster will make it big in 2007 = Phoenix Fire, I agree with you about Rhodes mate.
Lifetime Achievement Award Langevelt, 20 grand is a fair effort, especially as he's a honorary cornishman, so its amazing he can make any coherent posts.
The "We Miss You" Award = Fardin, kind of puts this interweb nonsense in perspective.
    Best CW Nationality =The world.

I don't know about last year or anything, but this year there have been lots of great newcomers I must say. I mean some of the members who I thought were clear veterans here on CW, I am very surprised to know, are actually newcomers. For example, you, Pasag, Dravid and a few others. I mean all you guys are quality posters and have so many posts under your belts, but was very surprised when I found out you guys just joined this year.
