Do you believe in ghosts or psychics?
I don't, but a lot of people seem to.
I notice even that former bastion of quality television, the ABC, is airing a series on "psychic detectives". Anyone got any strong opinions one way or another? I always thought it was a no-brainer, but I've met many people who I otherwise consider to be intelligent, worldly people who are firmly convinced that either ghosts or some kinds of spirits exist, or that some people can either tell the future, or obtain otherwise hidden information via their psychic ability....

Biggest load of bollocks going, if it wasn’t then James Randi would be penniless. You only have to Youtube some of the these so called psychics and you will no doubt come across hundreds of videos showing them **** up royally (Sylvia Brown...). There nothing more than charlatans and decent historians. As for ‘ghosts’ well that can be related to mental illness because a vast portion of people who see or sense ‘ghosts’ are mentality ill or going through puberty, surprisingly. Some very good scientific doctrines expand on this, have a few at home but for the life of me I can not think of the professors name or the specific papers.

I've always thought it was a fair part of wish fulfillment, combined with attaching too much significance on occasional coincidences (like "I was thinking about my mother, and she called me right then - what are the odds I ask you!").
Hope any believers out there won't be put off from posting by this torrent of skepticism... |

I'm agnostic about psychics, really. On the other hand, I completely believe in ghosts. They walk among us, not knowing they're dead:
![]() They don't know he's there, but the camera never lies! A young Liberal feels a tight, grabbing sensation around his nether regions, but shakes his head and smiles, dismissing it as his imagination. But is it?

I actively object to psychics; charlatans preying on the hurt or the credulous. They never say "Sorry, your Grandad's burning in hell & says he's in extreme agony due to the poker rammed up his jacksy. He coveted his nieghbour's ass and never repented.", do they? Bland soothing platitudes are their stock in trade.
I keep an open mind about ghosts. I couldn't believe in them as sentient beings as such, but I remain open to the possibility that the deceased leaves traces of their essences in a particularly locality. I'd need to see proof tho.
