    ABC's "My Favourite Album" show

Is on next week I believe.

Have people voted, and if so for what? For non-Aussies, what would you nominate as your favourite album of all time.

I voted for Revolver by the Fab Four. Just a great album with no weak songs, and a fantastic balance of different styles and moods that shouldn't all work together, but does so magnificently.

What can you vote for? Is it an open choice, or is there a limited selection? I haven't paid a lot of attention to this.

So hard to come down to one though. I'd probably say Mahavishnu Orchestra's Inner Mounting Flame, though Ornette Coleman's Science Fiction is very close behind.

Hmm. Think I'll go out on a limb here & say neither will trouble the scorers unduly.

My favourite album is Astral Weeks by Van Morrison. Not a startlingly original choice, but it is a startlingly original album. Nothing Van's done since has come close, but neither has anything anyone else has done either particularly. It seems to capture everything about the 60s, the youthful searching for identity, the hope, the longing & ultimately the loss. It also shows an astonishing breadth of musical ambition, talking in pop, soul, folk, jazz & pastoral psychedelia without ever sounding like a (shudder) fusion album.

"as much a news event as an actual footballer, a worthy stop-start centre forward, but an all-time hyper-galactico when it comes to doing funny things with cars and hats, a player whose signing proves once again that the Premier League is still undoubtedly the best in the world when it comes to doing things with cars and hats."

Yeah, I know. If you're gonna vote in one of these things you have to pick something more generally appreciated, or it's pretty much a waste of time. They are genuinely my two most fave albums at this time, though.

If I was to choose something more mainstream I'd probably go for something like Ziggy Stardust or Sign O' The Times.

Pretty crap tbh. The panel was dire as was the presenter. Happy with the results though, especially Dark Side at number one and two Beatles albums in the top ten.

Didn't watch it, but the promo page on the ABC website promised we'd be told what John Howard played on high rotation.

Pretty happy with most of the top 10 - 8 are albums that I have and really rate. Radiohead and Jeff Buckley surprised me, but I can see that others might like them.

Disappointed Revolver didn't get in but with two Beatles albums can't be too upset, Abbey Road and Sgt Pepper's are the more obvious picks for fans.

As pointed out on the show, no black musicians in the top 10, and as NOT pointed out, no female performers in the top 10 either, and no Australian artists either.

Personally I was disappointed that Dylan didn't crack the top 10, and that the Doors didn't get a guernsey in the 100 at all, missing out to Anthony Callea, Delta Goodrem and Darren Hayes. Seriously WTF?

Happy with Dark Side as No.1, I hate to say it but I'm with Dicko, at least with regards to that album. Was a bee's wozit from voting for it myself.

I thought Myf was pretty good, and the panel was good for a laugh. Was a decent show for mine.

Rumours should have been in the top 10.
