Bowen slagging off Hockey big time.

Imagine that, Labor coming off better in an argument over free-market policy. That's what happens when you act in the National Party's interest rather than the national interest.

Loving the response to the PISA test results by countries who did worse on it.

    Australia: "Blame Labor.!"
US: "None of this means anything for the economy."
    Both: "CHINA CHEATED!"

There's got to be an attitude of wanting to learn

Unless a kid shows up to class with that, then resources/class sizes/discipline measures are just tinkering at the edges

Nah ****s. If you want kids to be good at maths, it's not just about natural ability or you'd have noone in your classes. 2% of people have natural abilities to do algebra/calculus, the rest of us have to repeat exercises ad nauseum until the mechanisms get stuck in brain. There's no other way around it and most do eventually get there with enough practise. So many people who claim they're 'not maths people' have been taught poorly or not really at all.

Look at how many humanities Masters/PhD grads we see who, naturally, wouldn't consider themselves maths people but, because they have to do maths because so many humanities fields need numerical skills, get there in the end with a more than solid knowledge of statistics. Scholastic success is dependent on so much more than natural ability but too many people either never figure that out or do so very late.
