The fact that we have to call them a 'great friend' so often must mean it's not true.

I thought this actually showed they were getting smarter. I just assumed there was a mass bumping of heads just before the election and it's finally starting to wear off.

So, did anyone else hear Paul Keating take responsibility for the recession?!

"I think you've got to take responsibility for the outcomes. You know, I take responsibility for - even though there was an independent Reserve Bank, and in the end they were, you know, too slow up and too slow down, you know, and the Bronco effect of the terms of trade - this is just the hand you are dealt. And I think if you are the Treasurer, you have to take responsibility for it."

The Rise and Fall of Australia?s $44*Billion Broadband Project - IEEE Spectrum

The worst part of this whole mess is that the Coalition will use this to trumpet their fiscal pragmatist credentials.

Hopefully Tone and Jules will next turn their diplomatic skills to resolving the dispute on the Korean Penninsula, before moving on to pissing off our other best friend in the region, Samoa.

At this stage Fiji and NZ remain roughly on-side.

This could be an elaborate ruse to boost domestic tourism, as there won't be anywhere in SE Asia any Australian will be welcome.

Today Abbott told Aung San Suu Kyi (house arrest roughly 15 years), he knew how hard being in opposition is because "I was an Opposition Leader myself for 4 years."

Seriously, this **** is just doing the rounds of SE Asia pissing off as many countries as he can.

Passes the Lindsay test I suppose.

Tony Abbott and Aung San Suu Kyi hold joint press conference - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

    From 1:04.

Tone knows the position has some "exhilarations and some frustrations".
