Like any incoming PM, Abbott has to find a balance between those he owes favours to and those who deserve a crack on absolute merit.

It's good sinodonos is in the ministry, but he should have bitten the bullet and given him Finance. Cormann sounds like he should be ensuring the safety of Sarah Connor.

Should be a few Lols with Bananaby in cabinet mind you.

So Abbott should turf the people who perform to the level that got the party in power just so we can have more women?

    **** me.
Yeah, agreed. While the situation is unfortunate, I don't think parties should be looking for special privileges to certain classes of people over real merit.

Weird that Cormann picked up Finance. I though that was gonna go to Sinodinos.

Well if your definition of merit causes you to pick 18 men and 1 woman then maybe your definition needs looking at.

Please tell us more about which Australian female MPs should've been given cabinet positions and why, Vimes. I'm sure this wasn't just a wild assumption on your part at all.

Sanga isn't the best off spinner in the history of cricket? News to me.

but isn't there a ton of appeasement that goes into sorting out Cabinet/front-bench spots anyway? Like, you've gotta keep your relevant factions happy haven't you? (ie left/right, state by state, libs/nationals). Didn't one lady get demoted because she supported Diaz? She didn't get demoted based on the merits of whether she would be a good Cabinet member. She got demoted because she stupidly supported a stupid idiot. That's fine, that's politics. And the spots people gain in politics aren't always merit based are they.

So clearly the issue is the ladies haven't aligned themselves into a fraction that ultimately helps them gather power. Call me up ladies and I can help you
