It's not illegal to be a refugee Tony.

The language surrounding the arrival of boat people is a major part of the problem. None of the people entering Australia by boat are doing so illegally if they're refugees. Yet by saying they're "illegally entering the country by boat: that's exactly what you're implying.

If you wanted to suggest there's some kind of illegal activity happening you'd be better of focusing on the people taking the money to send people off on boats, not the people on the boats themselves.

The fact it's a major election issue in Australia is a bit of an embarrassment really.

If Rudd comes back, the Libs should just campaign by saying that he will be dumped again after the Election

That will dent his appeal with the unwashed better than anything

Despite how disastrous it would be for the country, I don't think anything more hilarious than Rudd causing a spill and winning the election only to be replaced by Gillard again straight away has ever actually happened in real life before.
