Labor are just trying to even it up so voting for Tony looks like a remotely viable option. They're nothing if not fair.

Beautiful set of numbers
long way to go though: Budget, costings, campaign, possible leadership changes, inevitable gaffes etc Election years are absolute marathons

Jono with a classic reverse Gambhir.
Horrible poll for the government.

In that respect the calling of the endless campaign is a good idea. Gillard will need time to rectify the damage. In all likelihood there will be just more stuff ups confirming voter's intentions. But what does Labour care? They're gonna get smashed anyway so they may as well hope for time to weave a miracle prior to Sep 14 to give them some chance.

The only person LNP supporters fear is Rudd. People just can't accept they misjudged him in 2007. He's a rockstar in Qld where, realistically, Labor must jag a swag of seats to win overall. Despite the dire polls at the time, you could sort of understand the Coalition not switching from Howard pre-election in 2007, as he was the proven election winner, not Costello. By contrast, for Labor, Rudd is the proven winner, not Gillard. A few more polls like this, and MPs will do strange things - not until at least April though |

Abbott still seen as a worse option for PM than Gillard though.
Neither leader can viably lead their party to success. Nobody likes Gillard, but nobody likes Abbott either. It won't be an election won by the LNP, it'll be an election lost by Labor. |
