I want him gone, and hope there are more foreboding Newspolls.

He's a Liberal Party hero for pulling the party back from the depths of Turnbull's reign, getting rid of a PM and stripping the Govt of its of majority at its first re-election attempt (only the 2nd time in Australia's history).

But, all told, at the moment he is Labor's only chance of victory next year. My read is that people generally want Gillard gone, but then they look across at the Liberals...and Abbott makes them have second thoughts. Abbott has that ewwww factor

Step forward Sloppy Joe - he doesn't repel people, he doesn't have Abbott's turn off factor.

Try turning some of your **** off

The biggest bill we've had in our household for a quarter is $180...and it hasn't changed since the tax came in. What really blows my mind is how people rack up such massive bills. It seems to generally be through using ****loads of power.

That advice doesn't include the 9% increase in carbon tax by the way.

Nielsen 53-47 to Coalition

Good news for Labor as it ensures Abbott remains leader

He makes it to Christmas after all

It really should be noted that this isn't because of financial troubles. They just dig the taste. That's all.

Nielsen 53:47. LNP up 1, ALP down 1. Haven't got details on primaries or PPM.

Primaries of 45-34

The problem for the Coalition is that you really need a good few months of shock polls (in this case 50-50) for the momentum to become overwhelming for a leadership change

With Christmas looming, it would take until at least April for the necessary momentum to be there to get rid of Abbott, and by then many will deem it too close to the election
