Mid-year budget slashes $499m from research support

The ARC freeze was a harbinger, tbh. Saw it coming last year when my own project was knifed by DoHA. Pretty sure the group I used to work for will cease to exist, despite about 15 years of residency at Flinders.

It's sad that people think like this and simply legitimizes Graham Richardson's view of the current ALP

That Neilsen is 51-49 to LNP on respondent allocated preferences.

The joke Morgan Poll has Labor ahead 50.5-49.5, first time since January 2011.

It's all about "context" though, isn't it?

If they get an extra 2PP points, it'll be like me in the slips - 50:50.

Richo slammed the ALP publicly many times prior to the last election

I just find it sad that a half intelligent person like Burgey can calmly dismiss the fact that there is a 20 ****ing billion dollar hole in the budget forecast by saying that it is ok so long as the ALP wins the next election

Yeah, that will be a great outcome

Lets make it 50 billion next time

Mate, if you want to campaign for the Liberal Party then head down to the local office and sign up. This sort of covert political subterfuge isn't on in an enthusiast's thread as far as I'm concerned.

I agree though that Tone is a cap on our vote

He is great between Elections, but on polling day, you can't bring yourself to do it

It's like Big Kim when he was replaced in 2006...was probably going to win, but replacing him meant it was certain

Sloppy Joe, or Wet Blanket Turnbull, please step up

Malcolm does seem to be the most intelligent of the three, so I'd probably be most concerned if he was running in the next election. Sloppy Joe, like Fatso the Wombat, does seem to have a bit of the people's champion about him. Would probably improve in stature if he moved away from budget replies.

Prediction: Labor's primary vote will remain the same and in fact may increase. However I still think they'll lose the election.
