F***m them I say, I don't need the government to protect me on the Internet and we shouldn't be giving over freedoms without a decent think about how big the problem actually is and what we lose in terms of freedoms as a result.

Farrah hadn't reported the incident I believe which was all that prevented the current laws from taking action.

He is a ****ing idiot. Simple as that. What a ridiculous rant.

If you want to have a crack at David Marr, go ahead. But painting this as a campaign against Catholocism? What a joke. Can't believe people take this dweeb's opinion seriously.

Should stick to writing about how the defence is under-funded and stfu on other issues.

    Not at all, no

I just thought it was a low point in Australian TV to have a prime time story featuring a 40+ year old person who had admitted themselves to hospital over comments such as "go hang yourself", "put your head in a toaster" etc. made by anonymous strangers online. Then, after being discharged from hospital, she goes on national tv to tell everyone about it.

It's not healthy to take such comments so seriously and says something about one's dependence on the online world. It's not a matter of "hardening up", but just of having some perspective, and not being so in the grip of social media.

That of course should be distinguished from actual, specific death threats which if specific enough would freak most people out.
