serious post:

pretty annoying that the buisness cut isn't being introduced. I guess they wasn't any point 'cause the greens had been pretty clear that they wouldn't let it through, but still.

Citizens of the UAE pay zero tax, receive free housing (not some ****ty council flat but 5-7 bedroom houses), free health-care, free schooling, jobs for life and pay no rates

Expats like me pay zero tax

Everybody gets the benefit of susidised food and petrol prices, and ridiculously cheap goods and services (I can buy Australian-made products such as a Commodore for half the price)

But hey, at least you have an alternative

As for Australia, first rule of taxation law is that income generated in that country is subject to local tax so guess what, I still pay tax because I own a business there

That, my friend, gives me the right to get pissed off when a morally-bankrupt government does virtually anything to stay in power
I get the rest, but this part had me confused...which party are we talking about here again? Because that could apply to politicians on the whole really.

It's one of the things that is so annoying about Labor ****ing this up...the coalition keep presenting themselves as 'fiscally responsible' yet they've ****ed up where the budget reply and costing their policies is concerned. And what happened to the accountants they used last year to cost everything for them? It's pretty entertaining watching Joe Hockey look like the kid in 5th grade who has just been confused by "what's 1 plus 1 Joe" whenever he's pressed on financial matters.

Should be one of the interesting parts of them getting into power.

That and watching Tony Abbott get shot in Indonesia when he visits the first week he's in power to tell them they have to stop sending boat people to Australia.

IMO, the vast majority of pollies are scumbags

However, literally the only reason why I support the Libs in Oz is that they generally wont **** the country whilst forwarding their own personal agendas

By way of contrast, the ALP are a dangerous joke as they will promote their own agenda AND **** the country.

No better example of this can be found than in the case of Craig Thomson

Rather than standing the guy down, the "honourable" PM has prevailed upon the alleged fraudster to sit on the cross benches so that he can continue to vote ALP, maintain her tenuous grip on power and he is only to happy to oblige as his super payout grows every day

Whilst I personally believe that Abbott is in no way a great candidate for PM, the current situation is very sad and an extremely poor reflection on a great country

The federal opposition has abandoned its principle of opposing all the measures the mining tax will fund and support $2.9 billion in welfare increases to be funded by the levy.

BROKEN PROMISE

Pretty meh budget really. Nothing really bad, nothing really good.
