Some things, though said years ago, ring true even today.....

Edit: I should say, parliament is poorer for speakers no longer being able to engage with the interjectors. It's a bit too tightly controlled these days.

I mean, these days Keating couldn't get away with this and certainly not what he said to Hewson here.

Carr didn't bankrupt NSW at all. Rather, he and Egan had a Coalition-like obsession with having a surplus at all costs, meaning like Howard the bottom line looked good but **** all got done for a decade.
