    A sad loss....

No doubt he'll take up a job working with Gina Reinhardt, a la Bitar and Crown Casino.

    Good riddance to the ****.

I don't even think Arbib was born with a face, that's how faceless he is.

Can you imagine the ALP allowing her to lead them to almost certain defeat?

BTW, it's not say that Rudd will replace her as Smith has some support apparently

I know that Smith looks a solid, reasonable character (and his spray at Hilditch was great), but I can't say I've been impressed by his work in defence at all, even if I agree with the general philosophy that the ADF brass need a headkicking

Rudd going so early just demonstrates his lack of understanding of these things
Disagree. I think it quite obviously wasn't his intention to go this early. He wanted to go about quietly undermining Gillard and allowing the polls to do their thing until about the end of this year, when said realisation that things were hopeless dawned upon caucus 6 months out from the election, and in desperation they turned to him.

But a bunch of labor MPs (most obviously Crean) got jack of what he was doing and called him out, plus the media blew it out of all proportion and it just became too big a distraction, so he was effectively forced to go now.

I think that we can safely say that this result is well and truly in the best interests of everyone in the country not named Kevin Rudd.

Mark Arbib wasn't faceless enough for the faceless man job anymore hence he had to resign.
