A politician who had the campaigning ability of Rudd, the political nous of Howard and the parliamentary performance of Gillard would be a devastating Prime Minister.

    We had one

Anyone who can start with a slender majority and successfully campaign in the midst of a severe recession against a policy they'd actively supported less than 10 years beforehand and win, is a political genius; while his policy and parliamentary performances are impeccable.

Mind you, imagine trying to push that reform agenda through in today's climate.

Well I would agree that he had the ego of someone with all those characteristics, but Hawke was a better overall politician.

Best moment in Australian politics for a decade was Hawkey downing that beer at the New Year's Test.

    * won that election against a half-wit who thought it would be a good idea to campaign on the basis of a new tax and work for the dole scheme - total ****wit

A better indication of Keating's "connection" to the electorate could be found in his defeat by Howard - the latter was a standing joke until he became PM but won because people simply didnt want Keating at any price

The bonus is he'll do his usual trick of both asking and answering the questions himself.

    e.g.

Am I Mother Teresa? No, I'm not

Well, Kevin has taken Juliar up on her pledge, and has confirmed in his press conference that if he loses on Monday he'll take the defeat in his stride, with good grace, and retire to the backbench to quietly serve the good people of Griffith.

Heard her on JJJ yesterday, hopefully she's rehearsed her stuff and doesn't sound like a ****ing airhead today.

Edit: Just read the rest of the posts before this...my point still stands.

Very odd to see his family so involved in this.

Lateline was fantastic with Farr and Marr just now.

Galaxy poll showed no movement, incredibly. Newspoll is out at 11.15pm tonight.
