apart from just about everything else, i just can't understand why after a year of getting killed in the polls because of the clubs campaign, literally a day after Wilkie and co belatedly start their own campaign labor don't wait a couple of months to see how it goes. it's like they're trying their best to be hated

It's curtains, Stephen. When a long-serving, on-the-nose administration is running for re-election, the opposition just needs a figure head who presents as a safe pair of hands; somebody who doesn't frighten the horses. Rightly or wrongly, the public thinks Newman ticks those boxes. (I think he's a bit of a dictator myself).

That was a class act by her in that situation. Was only a matter of time before something like this happened. It's been building since September 2010. The joint's unhinged. I'm just surprised it wasn't some anti-carbon tax idiot who did it.
