Haha I'm really not mad. I think that the whole Qantas situation is a stupid one. If this situation highlights anything though it's that companies need the ability to force arbitration without going to the extreme measure of initiating a lockout.

In no way, shape or form would we lose any of those things if unionism was banned in Australia.

Toothless bogans, that's all unions are.

    Yeah you would.

If they're toothless, then you've. Itching to fear by them then, so you need. It ban them.

Low unemployment, low inflation, low rates, low debt, am efficient IR system which resolves disputes quickly, an economy the envy of the world,
Australia's economy began in 2007. Before this time there was mass unemployment, crippling debt, and our economy was an embarrassment.

Joe Hockey admitting tonight the Coalition knew in advamce Qantas was going out and said nothing thereby stranding tens of thousands of people,
Joyce rings Abbott tens minutes before the announcement, which was 3 hours after the Government knew.

And the dispute was resolved despite the current IR laws, not because of them. Correlation doesn't equal causation (i.e. that the dispute was resolved doesn't mean it was because of the IR laws).

    Australia's economy began in 1984.

Hockey admitted he was told Qantas was planning a lockout in a meeting with a company official. He said it, no one else. When he was asked when he said "I can't recall". Did a Nixon.

They're his words mate. He made a goose of himself.

As I understand it, Qantas CEO said he raised the possibility of a grounding with the Government himself several times before it took place. So the Hockey revelation is not really that significant. Good god, Labor's not blaming the Abbott Coalition for something else again! According to Labor, although they're not actually in Government, they are the cause of everything.

Spikey's political commentary is as insightful as Jayasuriya's cricket commentary.

Saying something's possible =/= saying you're actually going to do it. Although I don't remember if Hockey did actually admit he heard QANTAS was actively planning to do so in that trainwreck of an interview.

Why should the government care what Qantas do? They aren't government-owned anymore....
