The odd thing about the polling on the CT was the one a couple of months back which asked people if they were for or against (60% against), followed by he question as to whether Abbott should repeal it if elected - 60%+ again saying no.

Suppose we see how it pans out.

Of course, as of next week when it passes the Senate, the government can legitimately run a long and expensive ad campaign about its important reform, including all the tax breaks and pension increases.

After all, it's important people are informed about these very important matters which effect their future.

oh gee, no clouds are touching my head, so this must be a good government

on that basis, the pink batts policy also gets a big tick - the sky didn't fall in...just peoples' celings...

it's like, we're only the 2nd government in history to lose our majority in the first term....but we're really a good government

our primary vote is stuck in the 20s, but again we're just having a run of bad luck

we can bring an industry (live cattle exports) to a shuttering halt on the basis of a tv report...but really, we're going ok.

we're the only government to replace our leader in the first term, but that's because we were doing such a ripping job

Hmmph, I was arguing against Howard's ETS from the first time I heard of it.

Just because the poster boy for my political "side" supports something doesn't mean I do - or that it's good policy.

However, an ETS is a way better system than a carbon tax. It's far more efficient a method of reducing GHG emissions.

I might have been a supporter of the carbon tax if all of the ridiculously costly and wasteful green projects that the government has going on were scrapped. The RETs have been in many ways far worse than a $20/tonne tax will be (when the tax goes higher and the maths starts to point towards new development being done in other countries instead of here it will be a different story).

Mr Crook has indicated he would oppose the amendments to the Migration Act, and word is the Bill has been pulled.

So Onshore we go. Bad for the government, but personally happy with it.
