Bob Ellis tells us what he really thinks:
It's almost certain that the people would have accepted an unmarried atheist cultureless crow-voiced opinion-altering racist-sounding union-bashing oversmiling ill-dressed and flame-haired female solicitor as the first person to live in sin in the Lodge if she had actually WON an election. But she lost it. And that made all the eccentricities in her persona and all the policy shifts in her track record more vivid, and, over time, they added up to a kind of cumulative crisis. They would not have been worrying in a winner --- Thatcher had more --- but in a loser....
Bit of Australian television history right now as Q and A jumps the shark, live from the Festival of Self-Indulgent Ideas.
Terrible.

Turnbull calls for leadership on climate
Onya Malcolm. The CP legislation is due to be voted on next week IIRC. I wonder he will be as courageous domestically as he has been 12,000 miles away.
It's On
Good grief.
Kevin's current popularity is inextricably linked to martydom.
Him returning to the leadership takes away that martydom...and people will remember him for what he was....Prime Minister Blah Blah....Captain Stuff Up.

This is how the media cover the response to Richo's words:
No one says anything: It's on! No denial!
Rudd responds: It's on! He's acting like a leader, bypassing Gillard!
Gillard responds: It's on! She's desperate! Clinging to power!
Meantime, she'll be PM til the next election. Which, if it is in late 2013, I have already predicted Labor to win by between 6-10 seats.
^ yikes, that damn media is at it again
when Rudd talks about stopping Abbott becoming pm, he's just prosecuting foreign policy
another abc beat up
The sad thing is now that teenager who got caught with drugs in Indonesia has not only have Kevin Rudd jump to his rescue, but has received a call from the Prime Minister. I find this utterly disgraceful and degrading to the office of PM. Not only that but it stinks of desperation from Gillard.
In fact that entire situation has been handled disgracefully by the government. There is no ambiguity like the Corby case, he was caught red-handed and hasn't even denied it. It should have been handled quietly by diplomats behind the scenes.
Why is Gillard getting involved? Will look so blatantly like she's trying to outdo Rudd and douse his leadership "push" whether she is or not. Seriously the political instincts of this mob...
$5 says Corby's parents get interviewed and they say something to offend Indonesia.
As we know:
