Ha ha Keating what a funny man!
He's was grumpy or perhaps still holds a grudge because Tanner and Swan were the key players against him as Tresurer who were in favour of economic dirigisme. 17 years of steady growth later...

The effects on the water supply seem to be a major concern...(though perhaps not as large as with shale gas, the same technique is often used to fracture the earth and free the gas)

On the CSG thing, I like the idea, but I'm always nervous about anything that could **** up the water table.

Gasland is a doco filmed by an American who wanted to investigate fracking and he showed some of the dire side effects, such as people's water becoming flammable.
We have an objectively safer supply of 42,000 years energy (current known reserves likely to be much much more) of course![]()
Gasland is supposed to be awesome. There's a scene where he lights the tapwater on fire lol.
Yeah, lawyers should be in there suing for millions.
I liked the film but I feel it fits the Mike Moore genre in many ways. Provides a one sided view of the story and uses 'appeal to emotion' on key facts. Thus, knowing that many people won't go away and investigate the facts further, I see the potential for similar harm being done as with our local shock jocks sprouting random numbers over emissions.
Yeah haven't seen it myself, just heard good things. Would imagine it'd be one-sided.

I truly think this woman has no political instincts at all. It's ingrained in the electorate's psyche that the Coalition is tough on border protection, and that Labor (having changed Howard's laws which has resulted in boats coming again) is soft. She must think that by drawing attention to every boat arrival, and blaming the opposition, that it somehow is doing her good. As I say, no political judgement, no political feel or instincts at all.
