Harry Jenkins to remain Speaker, Alex Somlyay Deputy.

Also, JP Langbroek will be replaced by Tim Nicholls as LNP leader (just as Stedders predicted, lol) and Mike Rann will quit mid-next year.
    5-0

    RIP Craig Walsh (Craig) 1985-2012

Proudly supporting the #2 cricketer of all time.

Well done Kerry on a great career. Take some heart from suggestions he might still be around in a reduced specialist interviewing role. Sales or Ulhmann for mine - Tony not the right fit and Trioli struggling with the problem of being a bit ****.

Tony's personality is a bit too... offbeat to be 7:30. No reason to move him off Q&A.

Leigh Sales would make a good bet, Lateline -> 7:30 seems the logical move.

Uhlmann... maybe. Would be a shame though as I think he does his current job pretty well.

    Trioli... hope not.

Deputy Speaker ballot on now. Secret ballot.

Labor put up Peter Slipper. Maybe they did do a deal after all..

Tone and Mesma looking less than happy.

    And so we begin...

    Edit: Slipper!!! 78-71.

    LOL, Abbott will be fuming.

Wow. The Coalition got completely blindsided by the one, which surprised me much more than the actual move itself.

Looks like two coalition MPs voted for Slipper too, along with the Indies.

    Edit: no - ALP(72) + Wilkie + Bandt + Oakeshott + Windsor + Katter + Slipper = 78.
