Towards the end of the interview he actually hit his stride.

Earlier in the interview Kerry asked him why he said at the press gallery dinner that he has a long memory. When Kerry was about to let it drop Kevin chimed in "I also have a short memory" to which Kerry just looked confused. Kevin then went on to say "Jeez mate...take a joke...it was a joke...get over it" or something along those lines.

Was painful viewing for Labor types.

Interesting thing about that Essential poll.

Support for the mining tax is effectively split down Labor/Liberal lines, with around 70% of each constituency favouring the policy of their chosen party. 17% of people are undecided. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I'm yet to see a poll that suggests more people support the mining tax than oppose it. The key thing though is that this tax hurts Labor in crucial seats, and while the matter is unresolved it gives Labor no clear air.

Labor has really met its match here. I think if there's one industry that is just as ruthless, well organised and cashed up as the ALP and Unions, it is the mining industry. I reckon they'll do something big during the campaign, like pull the plug on the Olympic dam project in SA.

Sportingbet have created a market for the Qld state election.

    LNP 1.70
    ALP 2.10

I can't bring myself to put money on the LNP and I don't want to have money tied up and unaccessible for 18 months. That market is like stealing though. Even if the Nationals implode the party, I still can't see Bligh getting back in.

Morgan Face to Face poll is out.

    Liberal 41 primary
    Labor 38 primary

    Face to Face

I'll punch that into my custom-made TPP calculator, allowing for Morgan inflation

    53-47 Liberal

FMD CW is getting into paid political ads? Next thing they'll have a mining industry advert on it.

Bet this is Cribb's doing. I'm sending him the bill when I kick the **** out of my monitor..

Is that calculator making your spies redundant?

    Indeed

Just on the spies, they report that Terry Alderman would be proud of the swing in Penrith tonight.

You know you have a problem when you're sitting in bed at 7pm on a Saturday with browsers open linking to The Tally Room, Crikey and Antony Green for a by-election in a seat where you know the result.

Far out though, the swing was gigantic. You must be devastated. The ALP in NSW is totally stuffed for the next election.
