Hate ch. 7 so much. Scummiest tv news of all the Aussie stations.

Not that I think it makes it any more newsworthy, but yes I think it would have. Might not have been as explosive, but still would have caused his ministerial downfall.

They stalked Campbell, as a gay man still in the closet, to a rendezvous and then outted him. They justified it in terms of outing him as having an affair on his wife, which as Ausage points out would still have meant he was in hot water (ba-boom-tish) but yeah, even then, what makes Today Tonight any different from Cheaters?

Campbell paraded himself as a sound family man all throughout his electorate (in which I live), only for him to be exposed as an untrustworthy, cheating liar. How could any voter trust him if his own family can't? To be fair to him though, he has handled it like a man. Full credit to him for facing the media in what must be a horrible time for him and his family. doesn't change the fact that he's a lying cheat though.

It's possible that his wife knew of his behaviour and he had to apologise to her due to the amount of media it has caused and the fact that people frown on him not having a monogomous relationship. It seems plausible given that this has been going on for the last 25 years apparently.
Has he ever campaigned on "family values" or just claimed that he's a family man and posed in photos with his family? Could still be an excellent father tbh. If he's been elected by running a conservative "family values" agenda then it's a problem. I find the media's treatment of this and the fact that for political reasons he needed to resign very concerning.
