That's ridiculous. Fixed four year terms of not you'd still have a dire Government right now. I'd argue that it's the public's fault for voting them in but it's really just the factional power-focussed bull**** that is running the state.

ALP are dead in the water though. Put (LIB) after any old joker's name and they could beat Kenneally.

ALP have been absolutely ****ed in NSW for years - trouble is that there's been no opposition

Was pleased to see that Skye's law looks like its going to get up. Can't see why endangering life with a car is treated any differently from doing so with a gun.

I'd support 4 year terms for the Federal government. 3 is just too short.

The government today announced an overhaul of the immigration policy regarding skilled migration. Sensibly, imo, hairdressing and cookery have been removed from the list of preferred occupations, and greater emphasis given to professionals in demand in the health and mining sectors. It was always bizarre that we apparently needed to give preference to hair-dressers amongst immigration applicants for instance, and predictably came to be abused.

If you saw the way my hair was last week you wouldn't have disagreed.
'Copperfield,' said Mr. Micawber, 'farewell! Every happiness and prosperity! If, in the progress of revolving years, I could persuade myself that my blighted destiny had been a warning to you, I should feel that I had not occupied another man's place in existence altogether in vain.

    I disagree.

    Four years is too long.

    Especially for this current mob.

It makes me sick how Malcolm Turncoat is portraying himself as a man of high principle with his decision to cross the floor and vote for Labor's ETS.

Let get this clear - Originally MT said that Australia should not go out in front of the rest of the world by implementing an ETS before USA, China, India etc. Then he said that the Liberal Party should support an ETS otherwise Rudd would decimate them at a DD Election.

I ask, how principled is that?

Anyway, MT always ends up falling out with everyone - the Packers, the Republican movement, the Liberal Party.

He, rather than Mad Monk, is the Liberal Party's Latham.

His position has been as topsy turvy as the rest of the party on the issue though. He's hardly out of place next to someone like Abbott.

That said he comes across (to me anyway) looking like he's doing alot of this out of spite which surely can't be in his interest. What he's doing isn't a good look for a party that's finally unifying itself, and I doubt his colleagues will forget his rebelleous tactics if things go south with Abbott. I agree though, I doubt he's doing this out of high principle.

Funny, the libs I know supported a five year term. Or they did when Howard was in office.

Oppositions always want more elections, incumbants less. 4 is a sensible balance IMO.

I don't like the idea that you've only got to be re-elected twice to serve 12 years (which is a bloody long time).

Most governments have seen better days after a decade in power.

Not saying four year fixed terms, just terms that as a maximum are four years. I reckon you'd get three elections in a ten-eleven year span at that rate.

You know I really love the irony that the biggest financial supporter of the Queensland LNP has actually helped out the Labor Party here, when Clive Palmer signed a $69b export deal with China. The deal will eventually create 7500 direct jobs and upto 70,000 indirect jobs, and already Anna Bligh is already using this as spin that she wants to create 100,000 jobs. No you stupid bitch, you haven't done anything. You will sit back and claim all the taxes, GST, and royalties that will roll in.
Beware the lollipop of mediocrity. Lick once and you suck forever...

"What the housewives of Australia need to understand as they do the ironing is that if they get it done commercially it's going to go up in price, and their own power bills when they switch the iron on are going to go up," he said.

Lol Abbott, you really are a ****ing idiot. Someone should cut your balls off.
