Wow, I just read about this at Wikipedia. It's apparently all about commemorating the defeat of evil demons and stuff. Sounds fun.

Happy Diwali.

Happy Diwali.
I dont think many of us give a damn about the reasons.
Like we really care about the reason to go blow up tons of firecrackers, eat good food, take a day off school/work and light up the whole city.

Btw, just to give you an 'idea', usually a 'regular dood' in his teens-20s would buy several dozens of various firecrackers...hook up with friends or family and proceed to spend the next several hours blowing it all up.
It isnt just 'one little roman candle,clap-clap and back into the house' kinda deal either.

Just spent 20,000 Rupees on fire crackers to blow up tonight. Thats just tonight, tomorrow is the day I will spend about 80,000 on fire crackers and blow em all up with my family and friends. Can't wait for it to get dark, it's going to be one hell of a night.

I don't like Diwali this year.

It's a dry day on my birthday!
