    North Korea's Nuclear Test

Is it as reliable as his golf outing where he finished 38 under par ?

The author kept using his first name when it was obvious he was trying to use his surname. Poor cultural understanding IMO eh, Sanz?
'Copperfield,' said Mr. Micawber, 'farewell! Every happiness and prosperity! If, in the progress of revolving years, I could persuade myself that my blighted destiny had been a warning to you, I should feel that I had not occupied another man's place in existence altogether in vain.

Here is a report on this.
Expect a Japanese, South Korean and possibly Taiwanese nuclear test before this year is over.

Will be interesting to see what comes out of this, it is a good oportunity for the UN to show that its actually a worthwhile organisation.

Why bother testing when they could just give the Americans a call

Anyway the North Koreans work quickly........too quickly to be plausible?

While it was an underground test the level of seismic activity reported would tend to require a nuclear detonation.

I think there is quite a large US military base in South Korea, im quite sure that there would be a number of subs in the area armed to the teeth with nuclear missiles and other armaments capable of causing serious damage. B-2's are also capable of making the round trip to drop payloads on North Korea.

America is about as popular globally as a boil on your third leg.
Why call them if you can do it yourself ?
Its not that hard for them to make a nuke and trust me, all Japan and South Korea's gotto do to test a nuke is push a button. Its all ready, sitting in place to be tested. And now the opportune moment has presented itself.
This is just like a bunch of roosters puffing their feathers in an intimidational display. Not a big deal really and nuclear proliferation is gonna happen.
No two ways about it. Thats pretty much the only way you can keep the global police bully from slapping you around like their pet dog.
50 years from now, practically any nation with a sizeable population/area is gonna have a nuke. You can bet your bottom dollar on it.

And you think US is gonna be stupid enough to attack North Korea now that they got a nuke ?
its not like anybody builds a few wee bombs to test, waits for it to go all smooth and then starts building a few more from the scratch for their military ya know...North Korea right now is probably busy fitting their missiles with nukes on them as we speak.
North Korea just entered the 'dont mess with us' territorry.

And i highly doubt that North Korea is gonna launch an invasion of South Korea- they can crush the American forces present in SK right now just with their conventional military-but they cannot hold South Korea, even if US didnt do anything to 'liberate' SK. Simply because the overwhelming majority of SK population are anti-NK. Its not like vietnam where most of the south vietnamese folks outside of their puppet government wanted to join North Vietnam.....there is gonna be very little ambient support for NK troops rolling into SK. Not to mention, i bet you my bottom dollar that SK too will conduct a nuke test soon. Only a total idiot in SK's position wouldnt have a clandestine nuclear program.

Australia stopped its Nuclear program in 1960's.

Japan's constitution prohibits it from them, though there are likely some in US Bases in Japan.

The US wont attack North Korea just because the have a successfully tested a weapon, but if they lanuched any sort of attack with them that might change very quickly.

A lot of it will depend on China's actions.
