Gun laws in the USA

With the recent shooting in schools in the US in the last week, and having not seen Bowling for Columbine by Michael Moore, how strict are the laws there for firearm ownership, but I guess it would be a state thing but not a federal law?

I'm concerned it mustn't be that hard to get with the nutcases' who have got hold of them and gone and vented their grudges. Even Homer Simpson got one despite beating up former President George Bush, being in a Mental Insitute etc. with a maximum of three firearms at one time.

The latest Amish ones are so sad. Tragic really. On guns though, I read an excellent post by Slow Love on the matter during one of my trollings through the archives.

You got me good there. What I meant that they take the mick out of everything, so if they are doing it then it must be pretty bad.

Anyway I stop now (worst arguement ever).

Would tightening gun laws do much though? Guns are really just a more glamorous way of killing people. Here in Australia we have tight gun laws, but it doesn't stop knife attacks which are so common they have to be pretty serious to get a mention in the news now.
