So now that it's over, what movie does everyone have down as their favourite from 2017?

I think Bladerunner 2049 probably takes it for me. It just seemed to hit all the right notes. Looked beautiful, great cast/characters, decent story with a twist or two, and a nod to Cowboy Bebop at the end. I've got the soundtrack on my phone and it's growing on me more and more as well.

Wind River, Dunkirk, Lady Bird, and Three Billboards would be the other ones up the top of the list. Haven't seen The Shape of Water yet so that could still find its way on there somewhere.

The new xXx was probably the worst I saw. Only positive was the hot Indian actress iirc. Ghost in the Shell was semi-decent but given my love for the series and original movie - probably the most disappointing.

Get Out was my favourite, with Blade Runner and Disaster Artist close behind.

Wind River, Blade Runner and Dunkirk

On the opposite end of the scale, I hope to god no one else saw Geostorm. I didn't know Dean Devlin was involved but it took 5 whole minutes for it to become obvious.

This video reminds me of that experience.

I only watched half a dozen films from 2017. Blade runner easily tops it for me. Dunkirk not too far behind.

Dunkirk wasn't that memorable for me, but the other two would be in my top 5. I haven't seen as much of the better critically acclaimed films this year as due to real life only really watched the blockbusters, but can't stop thinking about BR especially.

I did like Brawl In Cell Block 99 a lot also and Vince Vaughan (stop laughing) is ****ing awesome in it.

    Worst film of the year?

    Easy peasy.

Song To Song. One of the most depressingly bland soulless films I have seen since Knights Of Cup. Incredibly vacant people wander around whispering without purpose, a glorified Calvin Klein advert.

Somewhat amusing that Gosling is in my fav and least favourite film of the year.

Actually a very capable actor (especially in villainous/creepy roles). Just chooses some absolute rubbish from time to time.

Wind River, Bad Genius and Spider-Man Homecoming were probably my favourite movies of the year. Hon mentions to Bladerunner 2049, Baby Driver and Get Out.

Worst movie that I saw was probably Justice League - which shows that I got pretty lucky this year, as that was more hilariously bad than excruciatingly bad.

Watched Jurassic World at Christmas as it was on TV. I was rather bored and didn't really care for any of the empty characters. It was predictable, silly and presumably just got made because it had been enough time to sell another one.

Dinosaurs are cool though and Bryce Dallas Howard is hot, so i give the film a 4/10.

Mostly agree. The best movies I saw this year were the genre riffing comedies - Homecoming, Logan Lucky and Lego Batman.

Justice League was the worst new film I saw this year (among SHITLOADS that were worse) because it's just such a bland piece of nothing. It had any sort of theme or heart to it dropped in the editing. Reminded me of one of those cheap knock-offs you find in DVD bins, except this was a really expensive knock off.

In terms of expectations vs what I got, Jumanji is probably the best of the year. Didn't expect to enjoy it anywhere near as much as I did.

Wasn't even planning to go see that, but all these favourable reviews are changing my mind.

    Beetlejuice - 8/10.

Some of it is a bit camp and cringeworthy by modern standards but still watchable and very funny in places.
One film no-one has attempted to remake, yet!
