Watching Deliverance now, it's still incredible.

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

Yeah! I liked it. But general feeling is 15-20 minutes too long. Also better to watch in 3D rather than 48fps 2D.

Tend to avoid 3D now because it gives me a headache.

Watching it on IMAX 48fps 3D completely ruined the experience for me tbh. I agree with all the critics that are stating it was a bad experiment to shoot a film on 48fps. It was like I was watching a HD TV show, which took away the illusion of watching a movie. Whenever the action was slow (dialogue scenes at Bilbo's house for example), I could tolerate it. As soon as the action scenes with special effects kicked in, it really was jarring. I felt like I was watching a stage play with cheap special effects. Everything looked fake, even the candle light! I'm actually interested in watching it in 2D to see if the effect is any better.

As for the movie itself, I did think it was a bit long but I didn't mind the length too much. My favorite scenes were definitely the ones with Gollum. I haven't read the book, but I wish the story had more of a focus on him. He's gold. Looking forward to watching the second part...in 2D.

Edit: Owen Glieberman explains the problems with filming the movie in 48fps technology much more eloquently than I.

I watched The Hobbit in IMAX 3D just so I could watch the 9 minute Star Trek Into The Darkness preview. LOVED IT. I can't wait until the movie releases.

Not much of a Star Trek fan tbh, but the trailer does look good and Benedict Cumberbatch is an excellent actor.

Cumberbatch annoys me. He's the main reason why I've not watched any of Sherlock. Doesn't help he was the worst of a bad bunch in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
