Went to see Vertigo at BFI Southbank yesterday afternoon.

Quite possibly the greatest thing I've ever seen.

Saw both Fantastic Four films over the weekend. Thought they were decent enough light-hearted fare, first perhaps a little rushed in putting in the origin & finale, second was good.

Also watched The Butterfly Effect for like the 10th time and I still dig it.

Thought The Watch was pretty hilarious. Extremely predictable in places, but I think that was kind of what they were going for - just a fun comedy/sci-fi movie. Great cast, and Ayoade (Moss from The IT Crowd) was particularly brilliant.

Did he just play Moss? Trailer makes it look that way.

A shame if so because he's a genuinely good comedy actor.

Was a very Moss-like role I thought but still a very good performance.

In other news, watched Looper and thought it was brilliant. As with any film that has time travel as a key plot point, you have to ignore the inherent paradoxes that it creates. If you can do that, then you'd enjoy the film. Great pace, tension, and brilliantly acted.

This scene always helps with such things for me.

Haha, Looper actually has a scene where one of the protagonist basically says the same thing to another character (and hence the audience).

Yeah, I heard they did, on Kermode and Mayo's film show.

Saw Two Little Boys yesterday. Have to say that's the first time I've literally been completely unable to find any enjoyment in a film. Avoid at all costs, though most NZers probably already know that.

Yeah Looper is very good, highly recommended. Joseph Gordon-Levitt does a great job of looking like Bruce Willis too.

Apparently they used prosthetics, particularly on his nose to give him a more Willis like face.

Looper was great.

Although looking at Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Willis-alised face for 2 hours was a bit disturbing.
